History

Killarnée Civil and Concrete Contractors was established in 1998 in order to provide the Australian resource, energy and infrastructure sectors with efficient, flexible world class civil and concrete construction solutions. 

The company was founded by Paul and Elma Thompson and through their strong family values and dedication to the community they have developed a niche market in the construction industry. With a special focus on remote area work, Killarnée provides a service which mobilises quickly and exceeds all Client expectations.

The Killarnée name was fashioned from the Irish townships of Kilwaughter & Larne that Paul and Elma once called home. Not only is the Killarnée name a reflection of this heritage, it is also a symbol of how far they and the company have come.

Originally trading under the name of ‘Killarnée Formwork’, in 2009 the name was revised to ‘Killarnée Civil & Concrete Contractors’. This change was in recognition that Killarnée had expanded its business from purely concrete works into the civil construction industry. Killarnée has both the capability and resources to see a project through from beginning to end.

Due to the success of Killarnée Civil & Concrete Contractors, Paul and Elma established the Killarnée Foundation in 2006. The primary aim of this Foundation is to assist young people with special needs in pursuing and continuing their dreams. This is only one of the ways Killarnée puts back into the community from which it has received so much. Like the background of Killarnée itself, the Foundation aims to provide these young people with special needs the same family values and support that have ensured Killarnée’s success.

In 2010 Killarnée Civil & Concrete Contractors achieved, in recognition of the outstanding people and systems that make up the company, SAI Global’s certification in the following areas:

• AS NZS 4801-2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
• AS NZS ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management Systems
• AS NZS ISO 14001-2004 Environmental Management Systems

Going forward from here, Killarnée Civil & Concrete Contractors is continuously looking to improve and exceed the expectations of Clients by putting in place the right people, up-skilling them and refining the internal quality systems. As such, Killarnée continuously strive to provide the industry with a high level, full range of civil and concrete packages, whilst still maintaining a decidedly personal touch.
